Adams Canyon Falls
Paola and James’ engagement session at Adams Canyon Falls was one for the books. With stunning waterfall views, golden evening light, and a whole lot of determination, this session was equal parts beautiful and memorable. It took a little sweat and effort to get there—1.5 miles round trip, uphill on the way in and downhill on the way out—but the end result was absolutely worth it.
Hiking to Adams Canyon Falls
If you’ve ever hiked to Adams Canyon Falls, you know it’s no small task—especially in 90-degree heat! The trail winds through shaded trees, past streams and switchbacks, and finally opens up to reveal a stunning waterfall tucked into the canyon walls. I was 20 weeks pregnant when we did this session (yes, really!), and I’m not going to lie—the uphill trek tested all of us. But as soon as we reached the falls, the cool mist and breathtaking view made it feel like the perfect reward.
What They Wore
Paola looked absolutely radiant in a flowing purple dress that stood out beautifully against the deep greens and rugged rock textures of the canyon. The color popped in every frame and added the perfect touch of elegance to the wild, natural setting. James kept it classic in a white button-up shirt and black pants—simple, timeless, and sharp.
Their outfits struck a great balance between dressy and outdoorsy, and they made climbing over rocks and exploring around the falls look effortlessly romantic.
The Falls, the Light, and the Love
We timed our hike so we’d reach Adams Canyon Falls in time for golden hour—and it did not disappoint. The light filtered in through the trees, highlighting the spray of the waterfall and creating a dreamy, moody atmosphere. Paola and James laughed, climbed, held hands, and embraced as the falls roared behind them.
Despite the heat, the hike, and my growing baby bump, the energy between these two made the session feel light and fun. They were so patient and up for anything, and their adventurous spirits made for some incredible moments.
Planning Your Engagement Session at Adams Canyon Falls
If you’re considering Adams Canyon Falls for your engagement session, here’s what you should know: it’s a moderate hike—about 1.5 miles round trip—with a steady uphill climb to the falls and a downhill return. It’s best to go in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat, and be prepared for a little rock scrambling and some muddy spots if the waterfall is flowing strong.
But if you’re up for the adventure, the payoff is so worth it. The falls provide a unique and stunning backdrop that feels completely different from typical engagement photo spots in Utah.
Paola and James absolutely rocked their session, and I loved getting to hike and create with them—even at 20 weeks pregnant in 90-degree heat! Their love was easy to capture and even easier to celebrate.
